Creating Jira Issues

Once Jira is connected, you can create issues directly from any incident detail page.

Creating an issue

  1. Open an incident in BlameTrail.
  2. Scroll to the Jira Issues card.
  3. Click Create Issue.
  4. Select a Project from the dropdown (your Jira projects are listed automatically).
  5. Select an Issue Type (e.g., Bug, Task, Story).
  6. The Summary is pre-filled with the incident title. Edit if needed.
  7. Optionally add a Description.
  8. Click Create Issue.

The issue is created in Jira and immediately linked to the incident. You will see it appear in the Jira Issues card with a direct link to the issue in Jira.

What gets created

The Jira issue is created with:

  • Summary — The incident title (or your custom summary)
  • Description — The incident description (formatted as Atlassian Document Format)
  • Project — The project you selected
  • Issue Type — The type you selected

After creation

  • The issue link appears on the incident page with the issue key (e.g., PROJ-123)
  • Click the issue key to open it in Jira
  • Status changes in Jira are synced back automatically
  • The current assignee is displayed on the incident page
