Jira Integration

Connect Jira Cloud to create and track issues from BlameTrail incidents.

Jira Integration

The Jira integration connects your Jira Cloud site to BlameTrail, letting you create Jira issues directly from incidents and keep them in sync.

What it does

  • Create issues from incidents — Open a Jira issue with one click from any incident detail page. The incident title and description pre-fill the issue fields.
  • Link existing issues — Connect an existing Jira issue to a BlameTrail incident by entering its issue key (e.g., PROJ-123).
  • Status sync — When a linked Jira issue's status changes, BlameTrail updates the link automatically. Optionally auto-resolve incidents when the Jira issue moves to a "Done" status.
  • Assignee tracking — See who is assigned to linked Jira issues directly on the incident page.

How it works

BlameTrail Incident → Create/Link Jira Issue → Jira Cloud

                                          Status/Assignee Changes

                                          Webhook → BlameTrail

                                          Update Incident Link
  1. You connect your Jira Cloud site via OAuth.
  2. When an incident occurs, you can create a Jira issue or link an existing one.
  3. BlameTrail registers a webhook with Jira to receive updates.
  4. When the Jira issue status or assignee changes, BlameTrail updates the link.

Requirements

  • A Jira Cloud site (Jira Data Center and Server are not supported)
  • A BlameTrail Starter or Pro plan
  • Permission to authorize third-party apps in your Atlassian account
